Emilio Dibra Wins the 2018 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500® West Tennessee Regional Competition

Dickson, TN – The 2018 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500® West Tennessee Regional Series has come to a close and mason Emilio Dibra and mason tender Charlie Cheatham of United Masonry in Cleveland, OH won it all. Now they head to Las Vegas to compete in the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 World Championship next January at the World of Concrete. LoJac Materials in Dickson, TN hosted the regional series event, one of 24 being held across North America. The qualifying national competitors will battle for a chance to win over $125,000 in cash and prizes, including a Ford F250 XLT 4X4 truck and John Deere Gator.

This year’s regional event drew 10 teams of highly skilled bricklayers. Their mission is to build a wall as big as they can in one hour. The mason with who lays the most brick with the least mistakes wins. Emilio Dibra and Charlie Cheatham celebrated victory with a brick count of 643. For their efforts, Dibra and Cheatham receive $350, a trip to Las Vegas and the title “West Tennessee’s Best Bricklayer.” Dibra also took the title SPEC MIX TOP CRAFTSMAN, which goes to the mason with the “most sellable wall,” For this honor, Dibra took home an extra $250.
2nd place went to mason Jeray Miller and his mason tender Vince Wright of Miller Masonry in Killen, AL with a brick count of 497 earning them a prize of $250. Third place went to mason Juan Sanchez and his mason tender Justin Wise of Lopez Masonry in Nashville, TN.

The SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500® was established by SPEC MIX in 2003 to showcase the skill and craftsmanship of professional masons. It is featured as the headliner event of MASONRY MADNESS™ Day during the World of Concrete and recognized as the masonry industry’s premier bricklaying competition with a total purse estimated at $125,000 that annually awards the title, “World’s Best Bricklayer”.
