                  Healthcare Spending











         The last several years have been a wild ride in terms of healthcare and health reform. From changing policies to
         emerging markets, finding affordable healthcare coverage has become a struggle for many business owners and
         individuals.  Many of our members have also been struggling with the cost of providing health insurance for both
         their employees and themselves.
         The Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) is excited to announce MCAA’s Association Healthcare
         Plan. If you are not a member of the MCAA, now would be a great time to join and take advantage of this unique
         and very important benefit, which could save you thousands. These programs have tremendous advantages versus
         traditional health insurance, particularly for small groups.  For example, if your health insurance costs your com-
         pany $15,000 per year and you are a small employer, you could save a minimum of $1,500 per year by becoming a
         part of our larger group plan.
         If you are a current member of the MCAA, you can simply contact our office when your current health plan is set
         for renewal, and we will work with you to draft a proposal for new coverage using the program.  By rule, the plan is
         only available to mason contractor members of the MCAA.
         The MCAA has developed this plan with the assistance of Assurance Agency, one of the premier insurance bro-
         kerages in the country.  We welcome our members to obtain proposals directly from us or through an insurance
         broker of their choice.  New members to MCAA will also be able to join the new MCAA Association Health plan
         and ancillary programs (life, disability, dental and vision) throughout the year.
         The plan currently must exclude the states of New York, Connecticut, Maryland, and Kansas.  Those states have
         requirements in their health plan rules, which make it either too restrictive to offer insurance there or prohibit
         association health plans.  We are hopeful they may change those rules in the near future, which would allow us to
         offer our program there as well. The balance of the 50 states are eligible for this program.
         In addition to this group plan, we are planning to roll out a series of new insurance benefits for members that will
         utilize the MCAA’s group buying power to reduce your costs (there are several states which are still evaluating
         AHC programs and we are on a temporary hold; those include: NJ, VT and PA).  Look for more details soon.
